An artisan bakery based in the middle of Bath, The Thoughtful Bakery do just what they say on the tin; they bake bread the thoughtful way, concentrating on traditional techniques while factoring in sustainability and the environmental impact of everything they do. Owner Duncan honed his sustainability skills while working in Fiji, and on returning to the UK set out to set up a business that combined his two passions, suitability and slow food. Today, Thoughtful Bakery not only has a reputation as a renown artisan bakery, but also as one of the most refreshing and innovative, through their use of foraged ingredients, it’s standpoint on local sourcing right the way through to the bartering they do with customers who exchange gluts of fruit and veg for bread!

As well as being sure of a low environmental impact and ethical business culture you can be sure that everything you buy from Thoughtful Bakery will be free from artificial preservatives, emulsifiers and any other chemical ingredients that have no place in traditional bread making. Made using real techniques Thoughtful Bakery uses a slow fermentation method, meaning their bread is given more time to prove resulting in a loaf that’s healthier, easier to digest and packed full of flavour.
