Based in the heart of artisan quarter of Walcot Street, Meticulous Ink is a beautiful independent shop full of quirks and charm with an abundance of talent and creativity. Athena honours techniques that have stood the test of time to produce exceptional quality printed items using traditional methods as well as creating a lot of their designs by hand. As well as offering a personal, fully bespoke design service for the discerning client, she also has fine stationery and paper related goods ready to purchase, including pretty note cards and fine writing paper, greeting cards and books.
Athena Cauley-Yu, a stationery designer and typesetter, dedicated illustrator and printer, is the lady behind Meticulous Ink and is intensely passionate about paper and printing. Inspecting each and every order before it leaves the store, she ensures it is meticulous in every way and thoroughly enjoy receiving beautiful correspondence.
Though online tutorials may be a “quick fix” to inspire your craft curiosities, getting yourself involved with one of Meticulous Ink’s workshops and seeing the masters at work is an experience like no other. Under the watchful eye of Athena, pupils are introduced to the wonderful world of hand lettering, teaching you how to use a dip pen with a flexible nib, make basic strokes, and form letters in a distinctive copperplate style. By the end of the workshop you'll have the skills to begin writing confidently in beautiful script lettering. The workshops are tailored to those who attend, giving pupils the tools to develop their own individual style.
We proudly offer utterly bespoke stationery printed the old fashioned way - using 1960s presses, the finest papers, time, patience, and a deep rooted passion for being meticulous. Our small, yet perfectly formed store offers stationery and paper related goods and is at the front of the printworks, where you can see two enormous Heidelberg Windmill printing presses.
