A Collective of Conscious Citizens

Pixie's Mission statement: We're in business to create a more local world.

At Pixie we believe independent businesses, market traders and local producers provide the economic and common ground for communities to exist. They provide us with identity and somewhere real that we can experience, connect and belong to wherever we may be in the world. They bring opportunities to work, meet different people, discover new products, share a drink and experience different cultures first hand.

Staying true to this mission has helped us create a company we're proud to run and work for. And as we look to the next part of our journey and introduce Pixie to the world, we hope it will allow us to not only defend but also enable communities around the world to thrive.

Commonwealth principle

Our founding principle where 50% of our profits will be reinvested directly into community initiatives through our not-for-profit community interest company - Pixie Commonwealth fund.

At Pixie we want to be a successful business where we can continually strive towards our mission of a more local world, but at the same time never forgetting the two most important factors that allow us to be successful, you and this world we get to share. We have therefore openly put the spotlight on how we conduct ourselves as a business. In doing so we hope to show what we should all expect from companies who have the privilege to be in business. Only then will we become a society with greater equality which benefits all.

Our Story

From the streets of Lashkargāh in Afghanistan to the bazaars of Baghdad in Iraq, whilst serving in the British special forces, our founder Greg (AKA Chief Explorer) repeatedly experienced and shared simple acts of humanity in situations where you would probably not expect it.

Often or not these experiences came about through the need to conduct commerce. Whether buying bread from the local baker in Afghanistan or Coffee in Baghdad, these opportunities to trade on common ground pulled down barriers.

In 2013 having left the military and back in the UK, Greg came to realise that he didn’t want to live in a world where these opportunities to experience different people and trade didn’t exist. Enter Pixie and a passion to build an alternative economy that revolved around independent businesses-the common ground wherever you are in the world.

What started as one person soon became two with the unlikely combination of Greg and Paul (co-founder & CTO), where they came to share a fierce passion for independent businesses that would drive them both to turn Pixie from an idea into a company.
