Erika is a North London local and freelance creative working across the lifestyle and food industries. During the day, you can find her photographing, styling and very possibly eating the props on set. During her off time, she’s likely to be scouring London’s far most corners (and occasionally beyond) for her next food fix. Here she shares her favourite independent places to find the best vegan treats.
With the perfect ratio of cake to frosting and a flavour to please everyone, this vegan institution bakes the best vegan cupcakes in London. That’s not all however, as you’ll also find savoury pastries, cream filled giant cookie sandwiches and generous layered slices of which I’m still to find something less that jaw droppingly delicious.
Club Mexicana, Kerb Camden
If the words tofish tacos aren’t enough to get you in line at this food market stall, maybe barbecue jackfruit burritos will? Or maybe cheesy nachos are more your thing? Yep, see you there, pals.
Cookies and Scream, Camden
Huge ice cream sandwiches are what people are flocking to this little bakery for but be sure to also try their brownies and snag a slice of the highly under-promoted salted caramel and chocolate mousse pie. It’s a dream.
An ice cream shop may not be the most obvious place for vegan treats to lurk, but among Udderlicious’ ever changing flavours, you’ll find solid sorbet representation. Just try to go past the dark chocolate sea salt. I dare you.
Wild Food Cafe, Neal’s Yard Covent Garden
Possibly London’s worst kept vegan secret, here you can find vibrant, raw food that actually taste good plus a dessert menu you won’t want to skip. In fact, I insist you take a slice of tart home with you if you’re too full after your meal.
